Artists, students and art organizations, from amateur to professional, are invited to exhibit. The gallery will focus primarily on two-dimensional works.
In selecting exhibits, the Gallery Team will take into consideration:
• Quality of artwork
• Overall community interest
• Theme or medium relevance
• Previous exhibits by the same artist or organization
• Special needs, costs or requests associated with proposed exhibits
Exhibition Presentation, Installation, and DismantlingTwo-dimensional artwork must be suitably framed and ready for hanging. Unframed artwork will not be exhibited in the Gallery space without specific permission of the Gallery Team. Three-dimensional artwork may only be considered if it can be hung on the wall.
Artists/lenders must fill out an exhibition label for each major work of art accepted for exhibition. Please mark clearly whether or not the artwork is for sale. Unity Gallery requests 10 percent of selling price if a piece is sold. For a group show, please remember to mark all artwork with your name, telephone number, email, and selling price, or, if the item is not for sale, please mark NFS.
Typical exhibits will run six to eight weeks. The Gallery Team will supervise the set-up and removal of all exhibits. All major works of art must remain on display until the closing of the exhibition. Any costs associated with special installation or display needs must be pre-approved by the Gallery Team and borne by the artist/lender.
Artists/lenders must remove artwork from the Gallery no later than two days after the end of the exhibit unless the artist/lender has made written arrangements with the Gallery Team prior to the exhibit. Storage space is not available, so a fee of $10.00 per day will be charged for all work left past the second day after the closing date of the exhibition.
SalesAll sales transactions take place directly between the buyer and the artist. The artist is responsible for sales tax and the commission or tithing check of 10 percent payable to Unity Church of Lawrence with "Gallery" noted on the For" line on the lower left corner of the check. Small works or reproductions may be sold at the time of the reception for the exhibit.
Pricing will be displayed in the gallery on the exhibition label. All works of art hung in the gallery must remain on display, even if sold, until the exhibit closes. All sales are final.
Security/LiabilityUnity Church of Lawrence and Unity Art Gallery cannot be responsible for reimbursement or replacement of lost, stolen, or damaged items and does not insure exhibits. Unity Art Gallery encourages the artist/lender to obtain a rider on his or her insurance policy for the duration of the exhibit.
